The TransCanada mainline, including the pipe that would be the proposed Energy East pipeline crosses the Kapuskasing River in Northern Ontario. According to one resident that lives beside the pipeline, when TransCanada installed the pipe they simply laid it on the bottom of the river rather than bury it because it was much cheaper.
